What is CSCS and its affiliated schemes?

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is the UK construction industry’s primary skills certification scheme. In order to work on construction sites across the country, tradesmen are required to have a valid CSCS Card. CSCS is also affiliated to various other construction related occupations:

  • - ACE (Assuring Competence in Engineering Construction)
  • - CIRS (The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme)
  • - CSR (Construction Skills Register)
  • - ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme)
  • - EUSR - Energy & Utility Skills Register
  • - JIB PMES - Joint Industry Board for Plumbing Mechanical Engineering Services in England and Wales
  • - Engineering Services SKILLcard
  • - SNIJIB - Scottish and Northern Ireland Joint Industry Board
  • - Certification of Competence of Demolition Operatives

What do you mean by certified, authenticated, skilled tradesmen?

Certified: Tradesmen have the right qualifications, certifications and CSCS card relevant to their trade.

Authenticated: Tradesmen have demonstrated to us that they have the correct qualifications, certifications and CSCS card relevant to their trade, so have earned our seal of approval.

Skilled: Tradesmen have undergone the required training relevant to their trade and have acquired the necessary skillset.

Why do tradesman need to prove that they’re qualified?

Anyone can claim that they’re a plumber. Not everyone can claim that they have undergone the training to become a plumber. Not only is a qualified tradesman highly skilled, they are keenly aware of the correct health and safety regulations - which means they won’t put your life (or theirs) at risk.

Why is Bag a Builder better than word of mouth?

Word of mouth can tell you all about a tradesman’s previous work, but can’t tell you whether a tradesman is qualified. At Bag a Builder, for every single tradesman on our platform we will detail their qualifications, certifications and CSCS Card, as well as their previous work and feedback from other jobs.

What makes Bag a Builder different from other trader sites?

Our competitors do a great job of helping homeowners connect with tradesmen. What our competitors don’t do is help homeowners connect with qualified tradesmen. At Bag a Builder we have made it our goal is to connect homeowners with qualified, skilled tradesmen.

Where can I email/call if I have any concerns, queries or issues?

Please email [email protected] or call 0207 199 9808 and our team will get back to you as soon as possible.
